Going Green is the Boston Celtics’ team report written by Michael Tiedemann.
Team reports are articles written by the General Manager of each franchise. Whether it is weekly, monthly, or after every trade or game, c2c’s team reports are an inside look to each franchise. Maybe an explanation of a trade or a week in review of how the team has faired in games, either way, these are the words of the league and owners.
Brace yourselves.

Yi Jianlian might join pair up with Andrew Bynum in Boston.
Boston isn’t back to their glory days, but they aren’t sitting back and not attempting to get there.
Michael Tiedemann had let the league know he wanted to move up in the draft, but no one thought he would trade as much as he did in order to accomplish it. In a trade late Friday afternoon, the Celtics sent Craig Smith, Josh Childress and the 14th pick to Sacramento in exchange for Andray Blatche and the 5th pick.
“Craig has the potential to be a great player, but his contract status was up in the air and during early talks, he had expressed to us that he was going to openly test the market,” said Tiedemann. “So, we took that into consideration and sought out Sacramento in order to obtain a higher draft pick.”
That draft pick will most certainly be used on a power forward. Charlotte — who picks at number 4 — is being rumored to be taking Brandan Wright. That leaves Yi Jianlian as the next logical choice, or does it?
Yi has been a solid player in this year’s summer league as shown below in a video:
“I’d be lying if I said we don’t like the prospect of having two 7 footers in our front court. Yi would be a great compliment to Andrew [Bynum]. At least we think so,” said Tiedemann.
Still, Tiedemann wouldn’t rule out looking at some other prospects and the idea that they aren’t done moving up in the draft.
“We have been talking to a few teams about moving up once again. We’ll have to see if those come to fruition. If not, look for us to spend a little money in free agency,” said Tiedemann.
Not glory days, at all. But, making progress at this point is something the Celtics are trying to do.
